Overview
Tesamorelin is a stabilised GHRH analogue and an approved prescription medicine, indicated for the reduction of excess visceral abdominal fat in people with HIV-associated lipodystrophy.
That approval means it has a completed trial programme and an authoritative label, which is rare in this index. The indication is narrow and specific, and the evidence supporting it does not extend to general use for body composition. It has also been studied in cognitive research and in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, where the work is separate from the approved use.
What the research examines
Visceral adipose tissue in HIV-associated lipodystrophy as the approved indication, with separate research in liver fat and cognition.
Reported protocols
Attributed to the person who described them. Amounts, timing and interactions as stated on air.
Nobody has described a protocol for Tesamorelin on the show. When someone does, it will appear here attributed to them.
Adverse effects
Documented on the approved labelling, which is authoritative. Reported effects include injection-site reactions, joint pain, swelling, and effects on glucose tolerance.
Presentation and storage
An approved pharmaceutical product supplied as a lyophilised powder for reconstitution, refrigerated.
