Overview
TB-500 is a synthetic fragment corresponding to the actin-binding region of thymosin beta-4, a naturally occurring protein involved in cell migration and wound repair. The two names are routinely used interchangeably and should not be: the full protein and this fragment are different molecules with different research behind them.
The animal literature examines wound healing, cardiac tissue and corneal repair. Published human trials of the fragment are not available. It is prohibited in sport by the World Anti-Doping Agency, which is a practical consideration for anyone competing.
