Overview
BPC-157 is a synthetic peptide of fifteen amino acids, derived from a partial sequence of a protein identified in human gastric juice. It is the most widely discussed compound in this index and the one about which the most is claimed.
The published literature is overwhelmingly preclinical: rodent models of tendon, ligament, muscle and gastrointestinal injury, much of it from a small number of research groups. Effects reported in those models include changes in angiogenesis and collagen organisation. Published randomised controlled trials in humans are not available, and the gap between the volume of discussion and the volume of human evidence is the central fact about this compound.
